Beautiful Disaster[]
Abby leaves Las Vegas and her gambling addicted father for a fresh start in Sacramento, at Eastern University. She writes her father an email asking him to leave her alone until she contacts him. Abby moves into a dorm with her best friend Mare. Mare and her boyfriend Shepley take Abby to watch an underground fight at a place called The Circle. As she tries to leave, she meets Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox and becomes enthralled. He knocks out his opponent and gets blood on her sweater, then catches her when the rowdy crowd knocks her done. Abby soon learns that Travis is a student at EU and Shepley's cousin.
Abby tries to turn down Travis's flirtations and convince both of them she's not interested, but he catches her Instastalking him in class and invites her out to dinner. She goes out of her way to prove it's not a date, but their budding chemistry and connection is obvious. This only heightens when the water in Abby and Mare's dorm is shut off for 24-hours, forcing them to stay in Shepley's apartment that he shares with Travis. She's less than excited to spend the night at his place but, nonetheless, is determined to pass her college tests and not let Travis distract her. He lets her sleep in his bed, even though he claims it's "sacred ground." They wake up in the morning and he has an erection. She mistakes it for her cat and her stroking wakes him up. She throws things at Travis and angrily accusing him of needing to be locked up. He argues it's biological and out of his control, which reminds her of a test she's late for. She runs across campus, falls in a pile of mud, and barely makes it in time.
On the way back, Abby sees Parker, a med student whose balls she hits with a frisbee earlier in the week, and he asks her out. Their fancy date ends with him taking her to a show, which she mistakes for a classy Shakespearian play. Much to her astonishment, it's a fight in the theater. She's flustered and leaves the show, but encounters Travis in the hall. He's annoyed that she didn't text him back all day and blew off the rest of their not-date. As they exchange banter and bicker, she meets his opponent; a massive Russian who insists he'll die. They decide to make a bet. If the guy lands a punch on Travis he'll go without sex for three months. If Travis wins, Abby has to stay with him for a month. She makes it clear she'll never have sex with him, but he doesn't want that, he wants to be around her. She's good for him. Abby agrees to the bet and then watches in horror as Travis wins and she must keep her word.
Abby aggressively sets the tone for her stay on the first night. She establishes the great wall of China in the middle of the of the bed and refuses to speak to Travis, who thought this would be a fun idea.
Beautiful Wedding[]
Abby and Travis wake up after a night of partying with Mare and Shep. No one remembers anything from the night before and are shocked to realize Travis and Abby got married. Travis instantly takes a knee to tell Abby he loves her and, even though they didn't plan this, it's what he wants. He wishes his family were there to see her. She vomits on his face. A call from Benny rattles everyone, so they decide to flee to Mexico courtesy of Buzz. Mare and Shep are forced along when their ride back to the hotel ditches. It serves as both Travis and Abby's honeymoon and an escape from the gangster loan shark who wants his 138k back. She books them a luxury villa in Los Gatitos Mexico. Abby knows Travis freaking out about this too, as he's stuck with her forever. He has reservations like her being beautiful, smart, and making them a fortune in under an hour.
The group lands and are welcomed to the villa by Sancho, the musical and talkative villa concierge. Once alone, Travis calls Abby Mrs. Maddox, but she's not sure she's taking his name because she likes hers. She suggests he take her last name, something he compares to castration. He stops her from crossing the threshold so he can carry her over it. Their romantic first day comes to a halt as neither one packed condoms.
Travis and Abby go for a romantic dinner where she presents him with a pro-con list she made of their marriage. It will help them decide if they should get a quick annulment or not. He isn't happy with the list and only agrees to it because Abby can get Sancho to stop incessantly talking to him. Abby talks about her childhood and dead grandmother, but he's distracted by the sports score. He claims to not feel well but promises to be back. After the third time, Abby follows and finds him celebrating the score with Shep and concocting a plan to feign illness. She remarks that he's lost a lot of points for the ordeal.
In the morning, Abby finds Travis as the newest member of a mariachi band performing outside her room. They play in the ocean, have dinners, go on a boat, learn to salsa by Sancho, go parachuting, then go swimming (and make out) in the pool. Their night is rained in by a storm. The group plays games and lands on charades. Abby does a round and Mare guesses right. Travis didn't know American in Paris was her favorite movie or that she planned to live there. He's asks how he'll pursue criminal justice living in Paris. She doesn't know that, but also didn't know they'd get married after three months. Mare changes the game to Never Have I Ever. Abby gets upset by Travis's answers and goes for a walk.
Travis finds Abby in the pool and tries to talk with her. She thinks they barely know each other despite being married. He doesn't think they'll survive an annulment. If she's worried about Paris then he'll move there. They'll never have a dull moment. She passes on pool sex until he can wear a raincoat.
Travis begins to get jealous when he sees Abby spending time with Miguel, an employee at the villa. His jealousy and toxic masculinity around the situation puts a rift between them. Abby gets jealous when Travis is the center of attention at the beach, including flirtatious touches from Blanca and her friend. He points out the topless beach as a reason for his behavior. She takes off her top which freaks him out. He yells at a caricature artist so Abby shoves him down and tells him to leave her alone. He sees the guys on the beach checking Abby out and attacks them, unprovoked. Abby helps him fight off some of the guys and they are arrested by Mexican police and detained for the rest of the day.
Sancho and Miguel bail the couple out of jail. They return to the villa that night where Travis and Abby argue about her being topless. She gets out of the car and runs off. Travis wants to follow her, but Sancho stops him with a promise that Miguel will look out for her. She ends up in an alley with a group of drunk men. Miguel intervenes and scares the men off. She thanks him and they spend the evening walking. His parents were wealthy and owned the villa she's staying in. His dad was killed and the government took the home. He was angry until he got the calling for church. He's a Priest in training. She believes but doesn't practice. He wrestles her to the church while teasing that Jesus has another.
Miguel walks Abby back to the villa while encouraging her to see the marriage through. He offers to talk with her and Travis if they need it. She joins Travis by the pool and he apologizes for being a dick. She appreciates it and admits to having a problem of running away. She thinks they need a break. Their relationship has been a pressure cooker so they haven't blown off steam independently. He wants a bachelor party and she agrees to it. Travis calls his brother to tell them to come down.
The Maddox brothers land in the morning and spend the day with Travis, Abby, Mare, and Shep. The Maddox's compete in the hot pepper semifinals while the girls have a relaxing spa day. While there, they meet Vivian, a stressed, and very wealthy, divorcee. Vivian asks where the rest of the party is and realizes that's what Travis wanted, not Abby. She wants to make him happy and hears how awful that is. Vivian thinks the marriage is starting on a bad foot as it's about his needs and not hers. She invites the girls to join her party.
Abby and America head to the streets to find more fun. They end up at a wrestling match. The ringmaster wants someone to fight Thumbelina and Abby, thinking Thumbelina is a delicate flower, volunteers to fight her. Abby asks for a costume. She fights in a white cat costume. The girl is a skilled wrestler and beats Abby up. Travis finds the wrestling ring and coaches Abby. Abby realizes Thumbelina is flirting with Travis. She goes for the knee and body slams Thumbelina while Travis cheers from the sidelines.
They split up again with Abby and Mare heading back to Vivian's, where they get drunk by a fireplace. Vivian got married too young and it didn't work out. Mare doesn't think she'll ever get married. They get settled outside and Vivian refuses to let the girls inside her mansion, giving them a cot instead. Abby learns that Vivian's son, Parker Hayes, is an aspiring doctor. She remembers dating him. Abby tries to call Travis only for Blanca and another woman to answer - with just their breasts. Abby believes Travis is cheating and breaks into Parker's room to get a picture with him to make Travis jealous. She ends up passing out in his bed.
Travis tracks Abby's phone in the morning. Abby wakes up in the morning and mistakes Parker's morning erection for a cat, stroking it. Parker finally wakes up and screams at the sight of Abby, who also screams. Travis bangs on the door while Mare screams over the belief that Abby slept with Parker. Travis bursts into the room, followed by Vivian, and chaos ensues.
Travis and Abby go for marriage counseling with Miguel, recapping their disastrous first few days of marriage. Travis is hurt to find her in bed with her ex on their honeymoon. She admits it was stupid and she was drunk. She did it to get a selfie to make Travis jealous. She only did it because she went to video chat Travis only to have breasts answer. Travis insists he didn't do anything and wasn't involved in it. She believes him now that she's sober. She figures some girls took his phone. Miguel still believes there's home in this. But she doesn't think it goes both ways in their relationship. Travis knows she set him up to fail. Abby remembers Miguel saying there's something between them worth fighting for. She doesn't have any fight left in her and neither does he. He leaves the table. Miguel tries to relay a passage to Abby but she tells him to save it because she's done.
Abby talks to Mare on the phone with plans to stay in Mexico for a while. Mare's struggling in her relationship with Shepley too. He hunts and spies on her which isn't right for her. Abby cuts her off when she sees Benny across the court. She follows him and tackles him into the mud where they fight. Abby apologizes for ruining Benny's painting. He's sorry for fucking up her life. She excuses that because what he fucked up was her relationship with her dad, not her life. She's sorry about Darius, too. Her relationship is falling apart too. He calls her a moron because they have real life, passion, and things that can't be bought on Amazon. When that happens "sha-bam".
Benny and Abby go to the villa. Travis, fresh out of a pep-talk from his brothers, sees her over the balcony. He jumps over it and kisses her passionately. The kiss turns into one on their second wedding in Mexico. Sancho sets up a photoshoot while the Maddox brothers fight. The camera snaps a picture seconds later.
During the reception, Thomas, Tyler, Trenton, and Taylor give Abby the ring their father gave their mother. She passed before Travis got to know her, but it's special. She's special too so they want her to have it. They love her, very much. She's honored by the gesture and wishes she could have met their mother. She accepts the ring and promises to cherish it forever. She's proud to call them her brothers. She hugs them just as Travis walks in. He questions what they're doing to her.
Travis and Abby dance as she agrees to trying the Maddox name out if she can have personal towels. She's done with the points because she can't rationalize any of it. She loves him and that's all that matters. They kiss by the pool.
