Biography[]
Darby was on the verge of marrying Shawn Littlefield, a military man, in a tiny Texas church, but harbored doubts due to Shawn's abusive nature. Just before the ceremony, she took a pregnancy test in the bathroom, revealing a positive result. Fearing for her baby's safety, she couldn't proceed with the wedding. With the assistance of her friend Carly, she fled the scene in her wedding dress, armed with only a small amount of money and a bible.
Taking a bus to Colorado Springs, Colorado, Darby adopted a new identity—Darby Cooke. Securing a job at a local hotel's front desk, she managed to live there discreetly, concealing her pregnancy from her employers out of fear it would jeopardize her stay or employment. It's at the hotel that she encounters Trex. Initially wary due to inconsistencies in his words, Darby doesn't trust Trex, who lets her believe he works in a vague position related to the hotshots, aware that revealing the truth might erode her trust. Darby's distrust extends to military, police, and firefighters, shaped by her traumatic experience with Shawn, leading her to view all military men as potentially harmful.
Darby lives in constant fear of Shawn discovering her and the unborn child.
